Chip
Chip is the workhorse and the face of A Buff & Beyond. This whole thing started with his dream to be home with his family more.
While Chip lived in Maryland, he was very involved in many boating activities; he went to sailing school, was part of a two person team for sailing races, and learned how to detail various boats.
Chip’s various aircraft experiences taught him a lot about the importance of the minor details and respecting property, especially other people’s things. He grew up around airplanes, he flew RC airplanes, owned a single engine airplane, worked with airbuses, was a crew cheif (mechanic) on the F-16 in the military, and fabricated the F-16.
Life with twin toddlers and working an odd shift was taking its toll on Chip’s mental and physical well being. We knew something had to change but weren’t sure where to begin. As a way to keep up with our vehicles and also as a way to unwind, Chip started cleaning our cars on the weekend. One weekend, he jokingly said how cool it would be to detail people’s cars and earn some extra money. With some encouagement (okay maybe a push) from a friend, the ball began to roll. With the continuining decline of his health, Chip decided to fully jump into the detailing business.
Aside from working, Chip loves movies, fun fact, he has an entire wall of movies in our house, coffee, and just being with family. He loves Crossfit, but a nagging injury is hindering him from going as intense as he’d like.

Kate
Kate does most of the behind he scenes stuff, which is why most of the social media content is written in third person, and why ‘we’ is used often. She’s here to support Chip’s dreams however she can.
Way less complex than Chip, Kate was born and raised in Pennsylvania. Following the adventure that the military led, she (they) moved to Texas, back to Pennsylvania, and then Florida in the matter of months.
Kate actually aspired to be a teacher; she has her bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, and a minor in Psychology. She worked as a teacher in a state funded PreK program.
Currently, Kate’s primary role is keeping everyone in the house alive, which is a huge task most days. Rinsing A Buff & Beyond tools seems to be taking up time on her schedule lately, which is quite alright!
Kate enjoys Crossfit also, though not at the same level as Chip. Aside from that, Kate is pretty much a grandma. Although time currently doesn’t allow, her hobbies include crochet, embroidery, painting.
Random Fact: Kate can fold a fitted sheet
